HILLIER presented a cheque for more than £42,000 to gardening charity Greenfingers this week at its Eastbourne garden centre.
Andrew McIndoe, Hillier’s managing director, said, “Over the last year we have focused our fundraising efforts on Greenfingers, a small charity that contributes significantly to improving the lives of children in hospices by creating magical gardens for the to enjoy with their families.
“We have around 500 staff at our head office and 14 garden centres and they all contributed in some way to raising funds.”
Parachute jumps, dragon boat races, washing cars, raffles and various promotions were just some of the ways that Hillier raised cash across the country. Richard Jackson, chairman of Greenfingers and gardening writer and broadcaster, said, “We are thrilled with Hillier’s generous donation. With their support we will be able to continue our work to create tranquil settings where families and the children they care for can share special memories.”
