A gang of men who stole watches worth £10,000 from an Eastbourne jewellers have been jailed.
The seven men were sentenced at Southampton Crown Court on Wednesday for committing a string of crimes as part of a plan to carry out a number of high value commercial burglaries.
During a 10-week period the group committed a number of the burglaries and 18 crimes during which they stole property worth at least £220,000 including a burglary at Ernest Jones on December 5 2014 when the watches were stolen and a second break-in at the Arndale Centre a week later but nothing was taken.
The jailed men are all in their 20s and lived along the south coast from Winchester to Rye.
A police spokesperson said, “Commercial burglaries affect us all. Not only can owners and staff of the business and their livelihoods be badly affected but it can also lead to price rises for us all.”
