STUDENTS on the Hair I-Project with Sussex Downs College held a charity fundraising day at the Profile Hair and Beauty Salon in Eastbourne recently, which raised £213.

Customers made donations for their hair and beauty treatments during the day with four charities benefiting from the event.

Selected by the student group, the charities are Make a Wish, The Jayden Trust, Mustard Seed and Help for Heroes.

The stylists from the salon, pictured, volunteered their time on the day with the students helping wash, blow-dry and provide condition treatments together with hand and arm massages.

Jane Selmes, I-Project lecturer, said, “I am really proud of the group which has worked together to organise and promote the event.

“The young people on the I-Project have been on a 12-week programme, spending one day a week in the salon training with qualified and experienced hairdressers, with a second day in the classroom improving English, developing customer service and teamwork skills together with preparation for job interviews.”
