A weather warning has been issued for later (Friday) despite a scorcher during the day.
Isolated heavy, and possibly severe, thunderstorms are expected to develop this evening with some torrential downpours possible leading to localised surface water flooding.
Forecasters say there will also be large hail and frequent lightning and the public should be aware there is a chance of some very localised significant disruption.
Today however, will be a fine and dry day with long periods of strong sunshine. It will become very hot inland once again with winds generally light.
The maximum temperature is 30°C.
