Shoppers in Hailsham had the chance to pick up some fresh, local produce at the weekend.
Hailsham Farmers’ Market took place at the town’s cattle market on Saturday.
Trixie Folkard, market administrator, said, “The meat, chicken, smoked bacon and sausages were as local as you can get and quite often the price is comparable to other places. You could also buy cheese, eggs, honey, bread, wonderful fresh homemade cakes.
“Bedding plants were available with any help you need to grow them on, so your garden can look a picture and your vegetables will be delicious when you pick them. There was also a variety of craft stalls for that unusual present.”
A cafe was available so shoppers could have a cup of tea or coffee, even a cooked English breakfast.
• Hailsham Farmers’ Market is held on the second Saturday of every month, from 9am-12.30pm.
