Unemployed women in Eastbourne are being offered free digital classes to help combat the IT fears stopping them getting into work.

The new course called Building Digitally Confident Women is run by social enterprise WayfinderWoman. It’s the latest in a series of support for women in the workplace by this award winning organisation.

Laura Murphy, chairperson , said, “We ran a focus group with TechResort to find out what it was about IT that scared women.

“From that we put together a six-part programme that deals with their anxieties about IT and where they can experiment with office IT programs without breaking anything. We’ll help them set up a top notch Facebook and LinkedIn profile that potential employers will love and if they want to set up their own business this will help them too.

“At the end of the programme women will be more comfortable is using IT for themselves and in an office environment. With this new found confidence they’ll be open to more employment opportunities. I want to thank TechResort for teaming up with us and Eastbourne Borough Council who have provided a grant towards it.”

The programme runs from 10am to 1pm starting June 14, twice a week until July 1. Places can be booked by dropping into WayfinderWoman’s office at 106 Seaside Road Tuesday or Wednesday from 10am to 3pm or calling 886171 at the same times.
