Four people were taken to hospitals across the county after a three-car crash in Eastbourne.

Police, firefighters, the ambulance service and the air ambulance were called to Priory Road, Langney, at its junction with The Rising at 5.40pm on Friday (February 20).

The road was closed for around two hours and the Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance attended, but casualties were not as serious as first thought.

A police spokesman said, “Two men aged 23 and 22 who were rear seat passengers in a black Mercedes Benz C200 were taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital Brighton, and the Conquest Hospital, St Leonards-on-Sea, respectively.

“The driver, a 24-year-old man, and front seat passenger, a man aged 27, did not go to hospital. None were seriously hurt.

“The driver of a red Citroen C5, a 65-year-old man, and his passenger, a 76-year-old woman, received treatment for minor injuries at the Eastbourne District General Hospital and the Conquest Hospital respectively.

“The driver of the third vehicle involved, a white Toyota Aygo, was a 31-year-old woman who sustained minor injuries.”
