FIVE men have been arrested after the jet-ski club in Eastbourne was burgled and set on fire.
Officers were called at about 6.30am on Monday morning (September 3) by East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service.
The beach front building, next to the skate park at the back of the Sovereign Centre, was gutted by the fire and the roof had collapsed.
It was later reported to police that a jet-ski and kayak had been stolen.
Later that day a member of the public called police after seeing a jet-ski in suspicious circumstances.
Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team recovered the jet-ski, together with a pedal cycle which had also been stolen.
The five men – aged from 18-22 – arrested on suspicion of arson, burglary and theft offences have all been released on police bail until October 7 pending further enquiries.
Sergeant Julian Williams said, “We are still looking for a bright yellow kayak which is described as a sit-on Ocean.
“If anyone has seen one of these appear in someone’s garden or advertised for sale since Monday then we would urge them to contact police.
“We’d also like to hear from anyone who saw a jet ski being moved from the beach on Monday morning.
