FUNDRAISING firefighters have been given a £500 cash boost for their appeal.

The team of firefighters was handed a cheque by the staff and management at the Lakeland store in Cornfield Road.

It will go to their appeal for the Firefighter’s Charity and Clic Sargent, which looks after children with cancer and leukaemia.

In May, the 15-strong team members, all from Green Watch at the fire station in Whitley Road, will travel 1,000 miles across the four countries of the British Isles in four days riding scoooters and wearing their familiar bright yellow firefighting kit.

Crew member Bob Newton said the team was grateful to manager Richard Farrant and his staff for the donation.
