Eastbourne’s firefighters and staff at Argos have joined forces to save lives by providing kitchen timers to prevent local residents being distracted whilst they are cooking.
The local Community Safety Team approached Argos which agreed to jointly fund an initiative to offer kitchen timers to those most at risk
Argos branch manager Sarah Hayler said, “We are delighted to be able to work in partnership with Eastbourne’s firefighters to help make the residents of Eastbourne a little bit safer
“We take our community responsibilities very seriously and all of the staff at our Eastbourne store in Lottbridge Drove, are keen to support local initiatives such as this.”
The kitchen timers will be offered where a specific risk is identified by the Community Safety Team who visit homes in the Eastbourne area. The specialist team, based at the fire station in Whitley Road, offer free Home Safety Visits and talks on fire safety in the home.
