AN OPEN Day is being held at Eastbourne Community Fire Station next Saturday (May 5).
The extravaganza is being held to raise money for the Blazing Saddles, a team of firefighters who are riding scooters across the four countries of the British Isles in four days to raise money for charity.
The open day is from 10am-4pm and children and adults will be able to find out what it’s like to be a firefighter.
During their visit to the Whitley Road Fire Station children will be able to take part in a number of firefighter activities including the breathing apparatus chamber experience, sponge the firefighter, dress up as a firefighter as well as fire safety advice and displays and a mobilising and communications centre display.
There will also be face painting, a magician, charity and craft stalls, a book stall, tombola, refreshments and a chip pan fire demonstration.
Among the guests on the day will be Kathy Gore, the High Sheriff of East Sussex.
Entry to the open day will be free and all proceeds and donations will go the Blazing Saddles, a team of 11 Green Watch firefighters who will travel 1,000 miles over four days on scooters wearing their familiar bright yellow fire kit to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity and Clic Sargent which looks after children who are suffering with cancer and leukaemia.
