THE WISH Tower café is to be handed back to Eastbourne Borough Council after the summer season and given a major facelift.
The current lessees will leave the café in October and the council then plans to begin a massive refurbishment at the iconic seafront building.
There has been dialogue between leaseholders Kypros Andrea and business partner Saeid Pakdaman and the council since the 21 year lease ended last October.
The news that the long running dispute between the council and the duo has finally been settled was released this week.
Councillor Neil Stanley, cabinet portfolio holder for tourism, said, “I can confirm that the current lessee will vacate the Wish Tower in October this year. Following this, the council will take possession of the café and begin a programme of essential refurbishment and modernisation.
“The council is determined to return this key tourism venue to its former glory and encourage a whole new generation of visitors to use and enjoy it.”
