TRIBUTES have been paid to a well-loved teenager who died at Eastbourne Rugby Club on Tuesday.
Megan Brooks, 17, was described as ‘wonderful’, ‘beautiful’ and ‘an amazing person’ by friends who left heartfelt messages on her Facebook page.
The former Sussex Downs College student would have celebrated her 18th birthday on Tuesday.
Megan was a huge fan of boy band Westlife and had studied Media at Sussex Downs College until last autumn.
A spokesperson from the college said, “Students and staff were extremely saddened to hear about Megan Brooks’ death.
“They would like to convey their sympathy and support to Megan’s family.
“Our thoughts are with Megan’s family and friends at this difficult time and, on behalf of Sussex Downs College, I offer our deepest condolences.”
Megan, daughter of rugby club chairman Fraser, was found unconscious in an upstairs room at the Park Avenue club on Tuesday afternoon.
South East Coast Ambulance Service was called just before 2.20pm and a crew went to the scene.
A helicopter from Sussex Air Ambulance was also sent to support them.
Ambulance crews managed to resuscitate Megan at the club and she was taken to the DGH in a serious condition, but a spokesperson for the hospital said she died before arriving.
A police spokesperson said they were not treating the death as suspicious.
Megan’s funeral will be held at St Wilfrid’s Church, Broad Road, Lower Willingdon, on Tuesday, May 17.
The family has asked those who attend to wear something pink.
