In the build up to Eastbourne’s first Steampunk Festival, The Little Chelsea Gallery is hosting a special exhibition to run alongside the event.
‘The Remarkable Compendium of Curiosities’ will include an assortment of photography, design, art and sculpture and is billed as an exhibition ‘of tasteful elegance, pure quirkiness and polite Victoriana that gently leads in to the world of fantasy and fun’.
The exhibition runs from Saturday, September 6 to Sunday, September 28, excluding Mondays, between 11am and 4pm and is working in collaboration with the Steampunk Festival, which is set to take place on Eastbourne seafront on Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14.
Local artists have banded together to organise the exhibition at the Hyde Road gallery and much of their work will be on display, including photographic work from Will Wardle and Simon Mark Smith and assemblages from Mike Tann. There will also be Steampunk attire and accessories on show courtesy of Yvette Francis, Jacki Dalton and Terry Bridger. Artwork from George Eyo, Dorian Drake and many other guests will also feature.
