New winter opening hours are now in place at the county’s household waste recycling sites.
Opening times at the site in Roselands Avenue, Eastbourne remain the same, from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 8am until noon Saturday and Sunday, but the recycling site in Seaford will be open an hour earlier, at 8am, and close at 4pm, Monday to Saturday. Sunday hours will also change, with the site opening at 9am and closing at 4pm.
The Hailsham site will open 8am until 4pm Monday to Friday and 9am until 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
The recycling sites are managed by Veolia Environmental Services in partnership with East Sussex County Council.
A spokesperson for Veolia said the winter opening times were put in place to allow residents to make more use of the sites during daylight hours and to enable people who work from 9am to 5pm to do their recycling before work.
Martin Benson from Veolia said, “We aim to provide the best possible service to all our customers and changing to winter opening times will maximise opportunities for people to use the sites.
“We have also found that during the winter period there are very few visitors in the last hour of the day.
“We strive to be as consistent as possible and operate the same hours at each of our sites.
“However people should visit our website or call 08453 550550 to see what winter hours their local site will be operating.“
