An 81-year-old woman has been attacked by robbers who hit her and then snatched her handbag.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the robbery, which took place on Wednesday (October 7).

The victim was walking at the back of the rear of The Glastonbury Hotel, Marine Road, at 10.45pm when she was approached by two men.

She was hit on the shoulder and her handbag was taken. The two men ran away towards Seaside, possibly via Leaf Hall Road.

Detective constable Jo Bott said, “The men are described as around 5’ 8”, with one wearing a red long sleeved top, and the other a white long sleeved top with dark stripes down the arms.

“The elderly victim has been left extremely shaken and saddened by the attack.

“Anyone who has any information or saw the men running away are asked to contact police on 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 1532 of 07/10.”
