Schools announce closures due to strike action

The following schools have announced they will be closed or partially closed on Tuesday July 5 due to strike action by the National Union of Teachers.

Confirmed partly closed

Annecy Catholic Primary School, Seaford

Year 5 Class 5D and Year 6 Class 6N will be closed. All other classes (including the other Year 5 & Year 6 classes) will be open.

Burwash Church Of England Primary School

Pluto class closed, Mars class closed, Jupiter class closed. Mercury class open, Venus class open, Neptune class open.

Chantry Community Primary School, Bexhill-on-Sea

Reception, Year Four and Year Five will be closed. All other year groups remain open as usual.

Christ Church Church of England Primary School, St Leonards-on-sea

Letters to parents with information about which classes remain open and which are closed were sent home with children on June 29. A copy of this letter is posted on the front page of the school website.

Churchwood Primary Academy, St Leonards-on-sea

Only Nursery, Reception and Year 3 will be open.

Danehill Church of England Primary School

Early Years (Hedgehogs Class) and Year 5/6 (Kestrels Class) will be closed. Years 1/2 (Foxes) and Years 3/4 (Badgers) remain open.

Framfield Church of England Primary School

Open to Years 5 and 6 in Eagles Class. However, Year 6 will be attending induction day at UCTC.

Harbour Primary & Nursery School, Newhaven

Reception class will be closed. All other year groups remain open as usual.

Laughton Community Primary School

Bugs Class will be closed all day, Jungle Class from 10.30am. The school will be open to pupils in High Peaks and Underwater Class

Meeching Valley Primary School, Newhaven

Only Year 1, Year 4 and Year 6 will be open.

Northiam Church of England Primary School

Only Pine Class will be closed.

Pells Church of England Primary School, Lewes

The school will be open to Year 6 as normal.

Ratton School Academy Trust, Eastbourne

Open to Year 6 students coming to Ratton for the Taster Day. Closed to students in Years 7-10.

Rotherfield Primary School

Closed to children in Milne, Rowling and Kipling. Open for children in Andersen, King-Smith and Tolkien. Wraparound Services only open to children whose class is open.

Seaford Head School

The school will be open to Year 9 only. To support parents/carers, supervised independent study is available to those in Years 7, 8 and 10 if needed.

Seahaven Academy, Newhaven partly closed.

St Michael’s Primary School, Withyham

Reception Class will not be operating.

The Bishop Bell Church Of England School, Eastbourne

Open to Year 7 pupils and to the new Year 6 pupils having their taster day. Closed to other pupils.

The Causeway School, Eastbourne

Open for Year 6 Taster Day. Year 7 are expected to attend school as normal. Year 10 are expected to attend their college taster day as arranged. School will be closed for Year 8 and Year 9.

The Cavendish School, Eastbourne

Open to Reception Classes and year 7. Year 10 pupils should still attend college taster day

Wallands Community Primary School, Lewes

Closed to all pupils except Reception classes. The reception offsite trip will still go ahead as planned.

Willingdon Community School, Eastbourne

Open for all Year 7 students only. In addition, the school will be open for those students in other year groups for whom parents are unable to arrange appropriate child care on that day.

Year 6 children to come in at 8.45am-3.15pm for the Patina workshop. Year 5 children doing Bikeability to come in just at the times their group doing the Bikeability activity.
