EASTBOURNE schoolteacher Jeremy Forrest will appear at crown court in the New Year charged with child abduction.

The 30-year-old, who taught maths at Bishop Bell School, appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court today via videolink from Lewes Prison.

No application for bail was made in court and there was no indication of a plea.

Forrest, from Chislehurst Road, Petts Wood, South London, spoke during the brief hearing only to confirm his name and date of birth.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on January 11.

Forrest was arrested in Bordeaux, France on September 28, eight days after his disappearance sparked a Europe-wide search.

He was charged with abducting a child by Sussex Police on October 10, after being extradited back to Britain.
