Lidl in Eastbourne is among hundreds of stores that have recalled a dairy product amid allergy fears.

The supermarket chain has removed its Deluxe Mature Cheddar with Pickled Onions and Chives from sale after it was revealed the food contains undeclared presence of sulphites, which is not mentioned on the product packaging.

This means the cheese is a possible health risk for anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites.

Lidl has issued a notice to all of its customers, asking those who have bought the product to avoid eating it and return it to the store for a full refund if they have a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites.

No other Lidl UK products are known to be affected.
