Eastbourne Pier owner Sheikh Abid Gulzar will appear in court later this month.

He has already pleaded not guilty to two allegations in connection with tax matters.

The court case has been brought by HM Revenue and Customs and a trial will be held at Eastbourne Magistrates’ Court on June 22.

It is alleged by HMRC that Mr Gulzar, having been required by an officer of Revenue and Customs, failed to give security, or further security, for the payment of amounts for which he was accountable to HMRC accordance with Regulations 2003 and Part 3B of the Schedule 4 to the Social Security (Contributions) Regulations 2001.

It is also said that contrary to section 684(4A) Income Tax (Earnings and Pensions) Act 2003, on or about June 29 2014 at Eastbourne having been required by an officer of Revenue and Customs, the defendant failed to give security, or further security, for the payment of amounts for which he was accountable to HMRC in accordance with Regulations 2003 and Part 3B of the Schedule 4 to the Social Security (Contributions) Regulations 2001.
