East Sussex has scooped £13.2 million through the Local Growth Fund programme, with much of the money going to Devonshire Park and Sovereign Harbour.

Mrs Ansell said, “I am absolutely thrilled this substantial investment of millions of pounds will be coming to Eastbourne in two fantastic projects to transform areas of our town and make a real difference to the economy of Eastbourne and the surrounding area.

“Since I was elected, I have lobbied very, very hard for money to come our way from the Local Growth Fund and to see this announcement in black and white, and to know what this money can do for our town and our community, is just the best news. I’m very proud Eastbourne can move forward yet again with real promise through these developments.

“I thank SELEP and the borough council for all their hard work over the last months to get to this point. It shows the Government does listen to the needs of coastal communities, like ours, and here’s to seeing these developments coming to fruition in the years to come.”

Local growth minister Andrew Percy paid tribute to Caroline’s determination to get the money to Eastbourne, “Caroline never misses an opportunity to lobby for Eastbourne and her residents. This new investment in Eastbourne will have a transformative effect on the local community and is further evidence of the Government investing in our coastal communities.”
