Eastbourne man taken to hospital after animal attack

EASTBOURNE police are investigating a report after a man was attacked by an animal while walking across a recreation ground at the weekend.

Police say that a 41-year-old local man was bitten on the arm by “an unknown animal” in the early hours of Sunday morning in Seaside.

The incident happened at around 3.30am as the man was cutting across Whitley recreation ground of Whitley Road.

“He was on the arm bitten by an unknown animal, which he did not properly see but which is believed to have been a dog,” said the police in a statement.

Sergeant Bonnie Cowley added; “He suffered nasty puncture wounds to his arm, for which he was initially treated at Eastbourne District General Hospital, and which will need surgery.

“If anyone has any information about this incident, then please call us on 101 and quote serial 0285 of 16/6.”
