Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault a cyclist in Eastbourne.
The attack happened outside Sainsbury’s in Seaside.
At about 11pm on Monday (August 22), a 25-year-old local man reported being on his bike when he was waved down by younger man on the opposite side of the road.
They began talking, and shortly afterwards a third man approached and began punching the man with the bike.
Police said the victim, who sustained a head injury, eventually managed to get away and rode off towards the town centre, where he reported the incident.
Officers would like to speak to the younger man in particular in connection with the assault.
A 33-year-old man from Eastbourne, arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, has been bailed by police until Wednesday, September 14 pending further enquiries.
Anyone with any information about the assault is asked to contact Sussex Police by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or they can call 101, quoting serial 1653 of 22/08.
Alternatively, they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
