East Sussex County Council has confirmed its support for a second runway at Gatwick Airport today (January 27).
At a full council meeting, 27 councillors voted for the second runway, with 19 voting against it.
Then the cabinet met after the full council meeting, taking forward the motion to support a second runway, but it did oppose plans for ‘a narrow, concentrated arrival flight path’.
This comes after several neighbouring councils opposed the plans for Gatwick, including West Sussex County Council and Kent County Council.
The final decision on the second runway will be made by the newly elected government later this year.
