East Sussex artists’ work to go on display

The East Sussex Open 2013, showcasing the breadth of local artistic talent, is opening at the Towner art gallery on Saturday (March 9-April 28).

The exhibition showcases the work of 38 artists, from Eastbourne, Brighton and elsewhere in the county, allowing visitors to see the best of artists in the East Sussex region.

Each year, works have been shown in every medium, from small scale paintings to large scale installation and this year visitors will enjoy the delights of sculpture, painting, photography, installation and a film piece.

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure, Cllr Carolyn Heaps said, “It is great to see some local work displayed in our town’s award winning art museum.

“We have some extremely talented artists in East Sussex so I’ll look forward to the exhibition and encourage others to visit.”

Joining the exhibition’s curator Sanna Moore on the 2013 judging panel are guest selectors; Artist Susan Diab and Artist Alessandro Raho, whose famous works have included a commission of Dame Judi Dench for the National Portrait Gallery.
