East Dean and Friston WI - September meeting report

The President Margaret Clegg welcomed members and a guest to the September meeting and thanked Jean Warriner for the lovely colourful vase of flowers.

Dorothy Stevenson read the minutes and afterwards urged members to think about coming on to the committee.

The next Book Club meeting is on October 22nd. A trip to St Saviours Church in Eastbourne is planned for 13th October where we will be shown around by a Historian.

Then Margaret introduced Mrs Julia Hunt who came to talk of 'Modelling Feet First' and brought with her several pairs of very elegant high-heeled shoes.

Mrs Hunt first trained as a singer but when visiting an elderly lady had been told that her dainty size 4 feet were perfect for modelling shoes. She was put in touch with an agency and her career took off.

She modelled for the firm of Rayne for 10 years and later for Givenchy and other top designers. Pretty elegant shoes are close to the heart of most women and Mrs Hunt was thanked warmly for a most entertaining afternoon.

New members would be most welcome to our monthly meetings.
