POLEGATE and Local History Society’s next meeting takes place on Friday, January 21.

The guest speaker will be talking about the Royal Hippodrome, Eastbourne, all welcome at 7pm at St Johns Church Hall, High Street, Polegate.

Doors open at 6.45pm, visitors welcome. Telephone 484293 or 486208 for more information.

A COFFEE morning will be held on January 22 in the lounge at Polegate Community Centre, hosted by Cats Protection. All welcome from 10am.

POLEGATE Rambling Club walks tomorrow (January 20) include a Saunter Home From Hailsham of three miles including the Cuckoo Trail. Meet under bridge at Hailsham car park at 10am.

Or there is a 5.5 mile walk through fields and woodlands. Meet at Horam High Street car park about 10am.

Alternatively, a longer walk up the Ousewalk - up the Ouse from Barcombe - 9.5 miles flat, fields, woods, take picnic with Geoff.

POLEGATE Twinning Association hosts a Burn’ night celebration on Saturday, January 22, at St Johns Church Hall, High Street, Polegate.

Bring your own drinks and glasses for an event which begins at 7.30pm and also features English country dancing alongside the classic Gay Gordon and a Canadian barn dance.

Tickets are available at the Centre Greengrocers, by Polegate Co-op, at a cost of £9, to include food.

This is a double anniversary year which celebrates 20 years of association with its twin town in France and 30 years with a German twin town. If you are interested in getting involved contact 641281,486021 or 849392.
