EASTBOURNE Borough’s players will be having an early night on New Year’s Eve (hopefully) as they make the trip just down the road to play Crawley Town away, kick-at 3pm on New Year’s Day (Saturday, January 1).
They will also be playing again on Monday, January 3, at home against old foes Cambridge United. A couple of wins to start the year with a bang needed please boys...
BISHOP Bell School is looking forward to the New Year already, as their Year 9 pupils have been busy rehearsing for their pantomimes. These will be performed after the Christmas break.
The ‘Accelerated Reader’ scheme has been a roaring success with the Year 7’s at the school.
They have read a staggering 1152 books in total equating to 16,626,425 words in total!
Let’s hope that Santa ‘read’ into this further by getting the kids some books for Christmas!
CONGRATULATIONS must be given out to Alix Sparkes from 9SC. He was the winner of the fourth annual Santa Fun Run and Walk which took place along Eastbourne Seafront recently.
Alix led more than 200 other Santa’s on December 12 through-out the 5km route. He completed the course in less than 20 minutes and rose over £30 for charity in the process. Well done Alix for your step into Christmas!
FURTHER congratulations go to Benjamin Dowding and Hannah Ayling. The Year 10 pupils have just been chosen as AdiStar Young Ambassadors.
They have two main roles to fulfil. These are to lead a young person’s consultation survey, within Bishop Bell to enhance sport.
The other is to promote the Olympic and Paralympic values of 2012.
FINALLY on the Bishop Bell School front, please note that Year 9 Parents and Options evening will now be held on January 24 and NOT January 27, as was previously stated.
LASTLY this week, a heartfelt message goes out to Bill Strevett’s family and friends this week. He sadly passed away recently at the age of 82.
He was well known for his involvement in local football though-out the last four decades, including his spell at our very own, Langney Sports. He will be missed dearly.
