Last week Paul Foley. FRPS MPAGB EFIAP, who uses Fuji Velvia Slide film, showed his images which captured the beauty and the subtly of the natural world.

Paul favours going out just after the rain. He feels it enlivens nature, darkening tree bark and making lichens brightly coloured.

He does not always manage to avoid the rain and has been soaked to the skin for his art on many an occasion!

He showed a stunning rainbow, which appeared as he was taking a picture of a favourite tree.

He likes the subtle lighting on an overcast day and explained that studio photographers will spend thousands of pounds to gain the same effects!

Paul tries to become part of the landscape and will often sit and relax on arriving at his destination, believing that the longer he stays the more he sees.

Members were shown studies of trees, Scotland in the autumn, beach scenes with pebbles, sand pictures and waterfalls in Devon and Cornwall and also Harris and Lewis.

When Paul visits the coast to take photographs he makes a point of checking the tide timetables. He makes sure he arrives as the tide is going out.

Paul is a member of the Arena Group of photographers. He has had many of his images published in the photographic press including the international fine art photography magazine “Silvershotz.
