A mother duck and 14 newly hatched chicks are currently in the courtyard garden at St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Eastbourne.

It is not known how the family got in to the enclosed area but because there is no open water, staff at the hospice have called the Sussex Wildlife Rescue Ambulance Service.

Liz Sylvester at the hospice said, “The garden is enclosed and there is no open water, only a small water feature, so we’re just trying to sort out a WRAS rescue to take them to somewhere more suitable.”
