An Eastbourne man has been jailed for 21 months for having cannabis he planned to sell to users.
Terry Maynard, of Percival Avenue, was arrested after officers with a drugs warrant raided his home on March 1.
The raid was part of Operation Compton, an initiative carried out in partnership with Eastbourne Borough Council and other key partners in response to residents’ concerns and information about crime in the Hydneye area of Hampden Park.
Maynard was jailed for 21 months on Thursday (October 3) after he was convicted of possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
PC Dan Toft said, “This is a massive success for the local residents of Hampden Park who have had to endure crime and antisocial behaviour as a direct result of the supply of drugs to youths in the area.
“This sends a message out to all those intent on dealing drugs in the area that we will do everything in our power to stamp it out and give the area back to the law abiding majority who live there.
“I hope this empowers the residents of Hampden Park to regain their community back from the criminals.”
Anyone with information about drug dealing in their area should call 101.
