FLOWER CLUB: Peacehaven and Telscombe Flower Club meet on the third Wednesday of the month from 2pm for 2.30pm start at Telscombe Civic Centre.
TOWN COUNCIL: Telscombe Town Council has 13 councillors and five members of staff. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor are chosen annually at the Annual Council Meeting in May. The council offices are in the Telscombe Civic Centre situated on the corner of the South Coast Road and Central Avenue. Meetings of council and committees are held bi-monthly, apart from the Planning and Highways Committee which meets every three weeks.
FOOTNOTES: How wonderful to feel the warmth of the sun on the back of my neck as I lean over the flower beds, trying to put right some of the ravages of winter. The lighter evenings are a joy, with daylight surviving into early evening as well. A personal boon for me, as I have grown older and driving at night or in darkness is becoming difficult. The glare from oncoming headlights has become troublesome, so I avoid being on the road after dark if I possibly can.
To Eastbourne on Tuesday to be at the launch of Tony Floods’ latest book, Triple Tease. I have known Tony for many years and he is a regular drama critic with the Argus. This is his latest production. An enjoyable evening spent with Brian Capron, late of Coronation Street, and other shows. My job was to read an excerpt from the book and then the entries for a short story competition. I can recommend his book for those who like a good read. It is set in Seaford, Peacehaven, Eastbourne, Brighton, so some fun can be had by recognising various landmarks etc. Be warned, it is a trifle fruity for those of a nervous disposition, but a signed copy is available for £8.99 (including post and packing). Cheques should be made payable to Sportsworld Communications at Special Book Offer, 24, Brisbane Quay, Eastbourne BN2 5PD. I still find myself debating a replacement for Rupert or Jack. The lure of the various dog rescue centres is at times very strong, but so far I have resisted. Ho Hum, we shall see. Enjoy your week and go safely.
