BURGLARIES: Please read the following release which will provide you with information about a number of burglaries that have been confirmed on the Lewes District Coast. CADs 167, 170,173,204, 206, 212, 223 of 11/11/15. Police are warning residents in Seaford to be on their guard following a spate of house burglaries overnight from Tuesday 10/11/15 to Wednesday 11/11/15, where a number of properties were entered in the Aquilla Park, Wellington Park and Hartfield Road area of the Town. Those residents with integral garages that are attached to their houses are thought to be particularly at risk as the offenders have managed to gain entry to the houses themselves via connecting doors from the garage. Sergeant Stuart Mullins said, ‘We are warning all residents with garages to make sure that the external doors are closed and secure at all times. Those that live in newer builds with integral garages would seem to be particularly at risk and if you live in such a property please make sure that any internal door to the house is locked and secure at all times and fit for purpose.’ These offences are possibly linked with other recent similar burglaries in the Newhaven and Peacehaven areas. Anyone with any information about this or any other offence is asked to contact police. I know the above is taking place in the Seaford, Newhaven and Peacehaven areas, but it is a bit too near for comfort, so do take care.

FOOTNOTES: After over 20 years of loyal service, our freezer has finally given up the ghost and refuses to go on. So to the shops with Jack to forage for a new replacement. This was duly delivered and was met with an enthusiastic, sniffing and barking by Jack when it arrived. Despite this it appears to have settled in and is working beautifully. The garden looks as if it has gone to bed for the winter and our lovely lady gardener only has to come once every three weeks or so until about March, when it will all start up again. I do so love spring and all that it brings. Meanwhile, judging by the amount of adverts on the TV and the deluge of leaflets, etc., through our letterbox, Christmas is looming. I have yet to hear the sound of carols over the tannoy at our Sainsburys, on our twice weekly shop, but doubtless it will not be long. Personally, I don’t mind, but I had to smile when picking up a beautifully packed Christmas pudding, (Jack has a sweet tooth for them), to discover it would be out of date about a fortnight before Christmas. Oh well. It is only once a year. Enjoy your week.
