ROADWORKS: From our local MP: Welcome to my latest email as your local Member of Parliament. Today I am writing to inform residents about the resurfacing of the A259 at Ovingdean. The council have informed me that resurfacing work will be carried out on the seafront road at Ovingdean from September 7 to 12 inclusive. The road’s surface is cracking and worn and officials at Brighton and Hove City Council have said that it cannot be left much longer without deteriorating seriously. The dual carriageway will be closed, one side at a time with a contraflow system in operation. The junction with Greenways, at the Ovingdean Roundabout, will also be closed throughout the works. A special shuttle bus will be provided to pick people up from around Ovingdean village to take them to join the main Big Lemon bus service at Falmer Road. I would advise constituents to be aware that this could cause delays and to find an alternative route if possible. I hope you find this helpful.

FOOTNOTES: After gazing at the rain pouring down and watching the water level inch towards the height of the back step of the cottage, Jack and I donned waterproofs and ventured out into the town. Plodding through huge puddles, we were reminded of our years at our cottage in West Somerset, where we were nearly flooded out several times. However, the rain stopped and the sun came out as we completed our tour of Telscombe and Peacehaven. Just back in time, grateful that no water had breached our back door. However, long complaints some days later from the kind man who mows the grass on our lawns, at how it had grown in the meantime. Oh well, every cloud has a silver lining. Enjoy your week.
