Stone Cross, Westham and Hankham

Coffee morning: IT IS WITH REGRET that I have to inform readers that the Friday Coffee Morning and Market held in the Parish Centre, Stone Cross, will cease to operate with effect from July 31, when the Parish Centre will be closed for refurbishment. The subject of the Market was discussed by the members of the Parochial Church Council at their meeting on Wednesday and the decision was taken to close the market. It came as a shock to the organisers to be told of the PCC’s decision without any consultation at all with them. The organisers have been struggling to get people to go to the market and the numbers attending had been fairly low for several months. There are very grateful thanks to those people who did come to the market and especial thanks to those who took a stall to see their goods – it has been wonderful to have met you all and are grateful for your enthusiasm over the past few years. So the Market will be open for Friday July 17, 24 and 31. There are some plans for something to take the place of the market and these will b e disclosed in due course.

CANCER RESEARCH UK – Relay for Life: will be Celebrating, Remembering and Fighting Back on July 25 and 26 in Langley Sports Centre, Priory Lane. The event will b e opened at 12 noon by Caroline Ansell, MP. There will be fun for all the family: Yoga: Massages, Soft Play, Bouncey Castle, Arts and Crafts, BBQ, Refreshments Team Stalls and Lots of Fun
