POLEGATE WINE and Social Club: meeting on 26 July, time to tuck into salad items on a bring a share evening. Held at Polegate Community Centre, from 7.30 pm. More info from Sheila 483222.

WALK: on Wednesday 27 July in the evening. Round the Top with Mary B. meet at the Avenue 18.10 Walk starts at Butts Brow 18.30 Finish 20.30 4 miles. Leader at start.

COFFEE MORNING: on Saturday 10 July held in the lounge at Polegate Community Centre is hosted by Polegate Gardeners Society. All welcome from 10 am to 12 noon.

WALKS: Saturday 30 July Let Them Eat Cake with Pat and Richard meet at Little Common Roundabout at 110 am. GR 715079. Bus no. 99 9.23 am outside NatWest Bank, Cornfield Road finish 12.30 4.5 miles bring own drink but snack provided at beach hut. Option to stay longer. Leaders at start. Or Tees and Tyes with Clare Walk starts at Miniature Golf and Café, Rottingdean 9.45 an. GR 345033 finish 12.30 8 miles. Café lunch option.

SUMMER STEAM Festival: at Spa Valley Railway, had interesting exhibits at each station on the line. At Tunbridge Wells there was a model railway on display by one of the local model railway clubs. As well as the shop, cinema and Emily open as usual. Then at High Rocks, the hotel was open. At Groombridge the Weald and Sussex Stationery Engine group from East Grinstead was in steam. The signal box was also open to view. Whilst at ~Eridge there was a display of Classic Cars and Traction engines, including steam rollers and miniature models on display. Also the BBQ tent and Real Ale and Cider tent. . Whilst in the siding at Eridge was Ugly as part of a display with some trucks. Whilst running two trains on the line one had the chance to try out new beers and cider in Kate and enjoy the countryside as well, dodging some of the showers. On Saturday evening there was a Fish and Chips and Real Ale and Cider evening. On Sunday there was a Land Rover Show. www.spavalleyrrailway.co.uk telephone 01892 537715.

WALK: Sunday 31 July High Weald with Graham T. meet bus no. 51 9.40 am Terminus Road stand H. to the Mill, Horsebridge, where walk starts 10.15 am return bus ticket to Horam GR 580112, dry lunch public house nearby. Finish 14.45 Horam FOR 15.01 BUS 51 back to Eastbourne. 7.5 miles parking in the Mill area. Tea at the end. Leader joining bus at Church Street.

WALK: Wednesday 3 August Sea Views with Luck with Clare K. meet bus no. 12/12A 9.46 am Terminus Road to Blakeney Avenue between Newhaven and Peacehaven near golf course at 10.20 where walk starts 10.30 GR 430009, dry lunch finish 16.00 11 miles.

SUMMER DIESEL Gala: on Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 August takes place at Spa Valley Railway, also running our meal trains on Friday 5 August Pie, Mash and a Pint. Saturday 6 August, Fish and Chip Supper.
