CHARITY QUIZ: PRIORY COURT There will be a new monthly Charity Quiz starting at Priory Court Hotel. First quiz will be in aid of St Nicolas 800 appeal supporting the restoration of the Church. Date for your diaries is 27th July with the quiz starting at 7.30. £2 each to enter with a maximum team of six Questions will be set by your very own Pevensey Down Your Way correspondent! There will be three prizes and a raffle. Space is limited so phone to reserve a table 01323 760130 or 01323 764528.

GRASS VERGES: You will notice these have been finally cut. All credit to our Pevensey Parish Clerk Malcom Lawson and his hard work in sorting out the confusion resulting from a change of Contractors at ESCC. The Parish Council also requested that the grass be cleared when it was cut down this time as it was so long, unfortunately the request fell on deaf ears.

PEVENSEY RECREATION GROUND AND ANDERIDA PARK: All looking good at the moment with a new all weather cricket strip on the Rec. and Anderida Park with its sympathetic grass cut leaving some areas short and other areas longer to attract wildlife. With rare newts in the ditches, mistletoe in the trees and the lovely sight on still summer evenings of a Barn Owl hunting in the Castle and over the field, Pevensey is quite a Haven for wildlife.

WEALDEN FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL :Will be taking place once again in the Castle. Dates are Saturday 16th July and Sunday 17th July. There will be an array of locally produced Food and Drink with workshops, demonstrations, talks, bands and even a Living History Workshop turning the clock back to Anglo Saxon Days (bit worrying as last time the Saxons arrived in Pevensey they slaughtered the whole population!) Science workshops, falconry. It will however this time cost you £2 to get into the Festival which will include a reusable Festival Cup and entry into The Castle. If you are coming from further afield remember parking can be difficult in the village, and rather than parking on verges please use the Free Park and Ride Service from Stone Cross Nurseries.

ST NICOLAS: Will be putting on a concert by the Canterbury Cathedral Choristers. As a choir they are recognised as being one of the best anywhere and will be presenting pieces by Palestrina, Handel, Vivaldi, Britten, Delibes and Offenbach, mixed with some contemporary composers and some surprises. The Concert is on 9th July 7.00pm Tickets are £12.50, contact George Stephens on 01424 216651 or www.wegottickets.com/event/360063
