SCHOOL FAIR: Hellingly School Christmas fair is at 1pm tomorrow, Saturday.
CHRISTMAS BAZAAR: Hellingly church has its Christmas Bazaar tomorrow, Saturday, from 10am to noon in Hellingly village hall. There are many stalls including bottles, cakes, books, jams and chutneys, bathroom, gifts, tombola, raffle and refreshments. If you have any items to donate for the stalls, please bring them along on the day from 8.30am.
SALVATION ARMY: On Saturday December 12 a Salvation Army Concert is going to be held in Hellingly Church starting at 7pm. Tickets £6 includes refreshments.
PARISH COUNCIL: A member of the public asked whether the council had any further thoughts on taking over the management of the Village Management Company at Roebuck Park. The Council had not made a decision on this but an approach could be made once the current contracts came to an end. Bus Shelters at Swallow Business Park. It was noted that East Sussex County Council had some safety concerns with the proposed bus stops and they were now likely to be omitted, an alternative would be negotiated with the developers. Concerning Lower Dicker Recreation Ground, Barry Carpenter from the Hellingly Lions Cycle Speedway Club, updated members on the Club’s plans for the future. Council resolved to agree to issue a lease for 25 years for the recreation ground at an annual rent of £1, the lease to include an exclusion in respect of sub-letting or the right to reassign the lease. The lease also to give the council the right to retain the play equipment on the ground and to allow public right of access. Regarding Hellingly Country and Roebuck Parks: a decision on the location and number of benches and signs in the Park to be deferred until Councillors G Hesselgrave and Jackets together with a local resident carry out a survey of the Park. The Landscape Architect should be asked to produce soft landscaping drawings for the Community Hall site. The Chairman had undertaken to consult with residents on the soft landscaping scheme, this would be carried out at an appropriate time. The Council would advertise for a Groundsman in the New Year and in the interim contractors would be used for any works that needed undertaking.
