HELLINGLY CHURCH: 8am Holy Communion Hellingly, 10.45am Family Service Hellingly. Every Thursday 9.30am BCP Holy Communion at Hellingly.

POST OFFICE AND SHOP: I was very sorry to learn that the North Street general store and Post Office is to close down due, the owner says, to lack of people using the facility. This is a great surprise given the massive development in Hellingly. I hope somebody else is able to take it over and make it work as it is a very important part of the community and will be a very sorry loss.

FESTIVAL OF TRANSPORT: Coming soon. Over Bank Holiday weekend in fact from August 29 to 31 from 10am to 5pm. This is their 40th year and boasts over 1500 exhibits, stalls, some funfair rides, beer tent and refreshments. There will be lots going on in the arena. A great day out.

PARISH COUNCIL: On the subject of Hellingly and Roebuck Parks, it was reported that the form of transfer had now been agreed. Wealden District Council would need to sign this off under the terms of the S106 agreement if they were happy that the works had all been completed to a satisfactory standard. It was noted that the Cricket Pavilion, allotments and ecological area would still need to be delivered post transfer. Regarding Active Play Sessions, it was noted that sessions had been organised for August 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27, with the Wednesday sessions taking place between 4pm and 5.30pm and the Thursday sessions 11.30am to 1pm. It was noted that Orbit had not responded to the request for funding assistance. The clerk was asked to contact Albion in the Community to see if they would be able to assist with funding. It was noted that the next scheduled meeting with Persimmon would be July 9 at 5pm in the village hall. It was noted that there was concern about cars being driven down to the cricket pitch. The Cricket Club had strengthened their arrangements so it was hoped that this would soon improve.
