BONFIRE BINGO: Today, Friday, evening at the Charles Hunt Centre from 7pm for eyes down at 7.30pm. Half time tea break and raffle. Go along and have some fun and help raise much needed funds for this year’s bonfire celebration in October.

PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY: Thursday’s meeting commenced with the visiting judge Roger Crocombe ARPS, chairman of Bognor Regis Camera Club, showing five of his own prints. Roger loves printing photographs. There were 51 entries in the Print Competition, number four of the season. Results for prints to go through to the final at the end of the season were. Beginners: I Know You Are There, Halina Martin. Intermediate: The Church in Budir, Bryony Bruce; Oh Please! Pam Maclay; Morning Light, Martin Rumary. Advanced: Sweet Dreams, Louise Pemberton; Norwegian Wood, Jan Cunningham; Herring Gull, Paul Shilliam; Brimstone, Alan Bousfield; Luskentyre, Pat Broad; A Storm is Brewing, Louise Pemberton. Roger gave enthusiastic and amusing anecdotes when viewing images, together with excellent constructive criticism and comments to assist with improvement. He thought the standard was extremely high of all workers, particularly the advanced group as he held back about half of the pictures before deciding which ones went through. FAMILY FUN DAY: On Sunday at Freedom Leisure, Vicarage Field, from 10am to 3pm there is much entertainment all day including a performance from Britain’s Got Talent finalist, Peter Lambert. Elsa from Frozen will be singing, sit in a fire real engine, stalls from local businesses, old fashioned fairground games, bowling competition and Strikes snack bar open, family exercise classes, face painting and a family splashdance session with the pool dyed red. POP UP SHOP: The pop-up shop project, run by Hailsham and District Chamber of Commerce and supported by the Hailsham Forward Town Team, is aimed at new businesses or those without a physical presence in the town centre that would like the chance to experience what it takes to become a successful retailer. Located in the former Cellular mobile phone shop at 41 High Street, the new pop-up shop is scheduled to open on Monday March 27. The ground floor retail unit has an area of 348 square feet, includes a WC with wash hand basin and is available to hirers for £100 per week (inclusive of utilities). Below market, all-inclusive rent and no lengthy contracts. Details of how small business owners, or prospective businesses wishing to trial operating in a retail environment, can rent the pop-up shop are available through the Hailsham and District Chamber of Commerce. COMMUNITY GROUPS: AirS, Foodbank, SCDA, Sussex Oakleaf, Hailsham Active are organising a community event on Tuesday April 4 at the Hailsham East Community Centre. The idea is it is a chance for community groups to showcase what they do to attract new members and volunteers. There will be some taster workshops plus we encourage groups to offer some kind of interactive part to their displays if possible. If you would like a poster and a booking form for booking a table, there are limited places so it will be on a first come first served basis with a waiting list in case of cancellations. JAZZ CLUB: The Sussex Jazz Kings will be at the Inn on the Park at Deanland Road near Golden Cross on Tuesday from 8pm to 10.30pm. Entry is £10 with easy free car parking, dance floor, raffle, guest ales, food. Enquiries 01825 872406. Non-members welcome. Open to the public.

GIVE BLOOD: A blood doner session is being held at the Civic Community Hall, Vicarage Lane on Thursday. There are a few walk-in slots available but if you want to book a slot call 0300 123 23 23. Sessions are 1.30pm to 4pm and 5pm to 7.30pm.

NEIGHBOURHOOD PLANNING: Hailsham Town Council will be meeting on Thursday in the Fleur de Lys meeting room at 7pm. This meeting is open to the public, but you should check the website. There is 15 minutes set aside at the beginning of each meeting for members of the public to address the meeting if they wish. You can go along and observe the whole meeting if you wish.

DEMENTIA FRIENDLY: There is a special dementia friendly screening of Top Hat, at the Pavilion at 2pm on Friday.
