GIVE BLOOD: If it is your first time you are just registered and screened for future donations. Limited walk in appointments are available and appointments can be made on 0300 123 23 23. The venue is Hailsham Civic Community Hall between 1.30 to 4pm and 5 to 7.30pm. Those of us, like myself and my son are not allowed to give blood as we have both been on the receiving end but would like to thank on behalf of everybody that has had a transfusion, those that are able and do donate.
WHO LET THE DADS OUT?: Next Saturday 28 May at St Mary’s Church from 9.30 to 11.30am for fathers and their children up to 7 years old. There are fun games, craft, refreshments and bacon butties.
HOLIDAY CLUB: The half term is fast approaching and bookings are now available at Freedom Leisure. There is swimming, ten pin bowling, a rip to the cinema to see Jungle Book, team games, arts and crafts. Spaces are limited. The club is open to children aged 6 - 12 years. HEATHFIELD SHOW: This popular event is on Saturday 28 May from 8am to 5.15pm. A fantastic day at Little Tottingworth Farm, Broad Oak, Heathfield, East Sussex TN21 8UE. There are displays throughout the day including the Dancing Diggers and Hug a Hen in the Poultry marquee. Preparations have been going on for two weeks now making sure the arena sizes are good for what is planned. The New Enterprise Zone will be promoting 10 start up businesses who have been trading for less than a year. The Craft Marquee plays host to local craftsmen, and the Education marquee, this year sponsored by Bede’s, will be show casing the ‘how, why, what, when and where’ of agriculture. The Farmers Market area is bigger and better than ever before with local cheese makers, raw milk specialist and sausage makers occupying just a few of the stalls that will be present on Show day. FLOWERY QUIZ: Hailsham Flower Club held once again their popular successful general Knowledge Quiz Night in May at Grovelands School. The 89 people attending had a very entertaining and educational evening and in the interval enjoyed an excellent ploughman’s supper. From the proceeds of the quiz the club will make a generous donation to the Sussex Kidney Trust formed in 1967 by the Sussex Area of the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies.
To this day it continues to be run by a dedicated and completely voluntary committee. Since its formation the Trust has purchased over £1m of equipment for the Renal Units of the Royal Sussex County Hospital Brighton, Worthing and Bexhill. The club would like to say a big Thank you for all the people who attended the quiz night who helped to raise much needed funds for this cause.
The Flower Club welcomes anyone who would like to come along as a guest.
They meet every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm at the Civic Community Hall, Vicarage Lane, Hailsham BN27 2AX.
QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY: A celebration from 9.30am-4pm on Friday 10 June Queen’s Birthday Celebration at Hailsham Parish Church with tea, coffee and cake served all day with a ploughman’s lunch between 12noon-2pm. This is a free event with a variety of music throughout the day and an exhibition. A commemorative book which is a tribute for Her Majesty’s 90th birthday will be available for you to take away. Any donations will be split between Hailsham foodbank and the kitchen/toilet fund for Hailsham Parish Church.
PROM IN THE PARK: In aid of Demelza Hospice Care for Children this event takes place on the Western Road Recreation Ground on the evening of Friday 10th June to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday. Entrance is open at 6pm. Bring your rugs, chairs, picnic and Union Jack flags for a lovely evening with Wealden Brass and Hailsham FM. Donations at the entrances will be gratefully received.
RED, WHITE AND BLUE PARTY: On the Saturday 11 June 7.30 to 11.30pm there are still tickets available for this great event put on by Hailsham FM Radio with Environment Hailsham again to celebrate the Queen’s official 90th Birthday. This event for all the family is open to everyone in and around Hailsham and will take place at Grovelands School. Enjoy an evening of live music from the Tipler & Norman Band as well as music across the decades with Hailsham FM. There will be a cash bar until late, a prize raffle, a British Icons fancy dress party and includes a fish and chip supper for those that book in advance on 01323 840382 or 07904 866328 or email Joy on firstname.lastname@example.org.
