BEACH CLEAN: The Tide Mills Community Beach Clean is on Sunday from 10am to noon. Meet at the beach end of Mill Drove (off the A259). Come along, grab a bag and litter picker, and help clean up the area for visitors and the local wildlife.
OPEN HOUSE: At 16 Hill Rise, Bishopstone from 11am to 5pm, August 27 to 29 and September 3 and 4. Downland and marine scenes in oils and water colours by Anthony Morgan-Jones and etchings by Maureen Black will be on view. Refreshments will be available.
FREE HORSE MANURE: Is available on west (Newhaven) side of Bishopstone Road between Bishopstone Estate and Bishopstone Pond: help yourself, but please return or replace the bags.
RARE BEETLE: If you’ve seen the odd stranger peering attentively at the ground and vegetation near the southern end of the village (who hasn’t lost their car keys), then you’ve possibly spotted an entomologist in recent weeks. A rare beetle (and gardener’s friend) with the wonderful name of The Sycophant has been found locally.
