BEACH CLEAN: Tide Mills Community Beach Clean is on Sunday, December 20, 10am to noon (final meeting of 2015 and Annual Christmas Picnic). Meet at the beach end of Mill Drove (off the A259). Come along, grab a bag and a litter picker, and help clean up the area for visitors and the local wildlife.
FREE HORSE MANURE: Available on west (Newhaven) side of Bishopstone Road between Bishopstone Estate and Bishopstone Pond: help yourself, but please return or replace the bags.
GIFT DAY: The Patronal Gift Day has already resulted in donations amounting to £5,241. Thanks are due to all those who supported this day in many ways.
STORM: Storm Desmond appears have blown itself out, but the Environment Agency has been moving the beach shingle back, just in case. A walk along the tide line before it disappeared revealed some interesting items, including a waterlogged ivory nut from the wreck of the Peruvian, nearly 116 years ago. Originally used for making buttons or engraving miniatures, the occasional nut is now a welcome snack for the beach birds.
