SUMMER school: Sussex Rocks Summer School is a really exciting project for young people with some musical ability. From August 13-17 Sussex Rocks will -take place at Willingdon Community School daily 10am-4pm. The course is intended for young people aged between 10 and 18. The idea is young instrumentalists can be part of a rock band – and bring along their own instruments such as guitars, keyboards, amplifiers and drums and will receive expert tuition.

Bass players and vocalists would also be welcome. This is the brainchild of Jacqui Crowther and her 14-year-old son Lawrence who took part in a similar scheme in the West Country last year.

He loved it and learnt a lot but it proved very expensive as accommodation and travel had to be taken into account. With the help of expert advice and qualified tutors, Jacqui felt t there was no reason why a similar course couldn’t be run in Willingdon. The experienced tutors she has enlisted are well-qualified and have been CRB checked.

At the end a showcase concert will be put on for family and friends. The course is just £150. See the website Sussex Rocks and scroll down to Events Details Wealden District Council. Ring 07746 770877 or email contactus@sussexrocks.org.uk .
