BUS TIMES: The new Stagecoach maps and bus times leaflet for the number 98 bus is now available. The 98 runs through Hastings, St Leonards, Pebsham, Bexhill, Sidley, Herstmonceux, Hailsham, Polegate, Willingdon and Eastbourne.

THE Beachy Head Chaplaincy team has its administrative centre at the Shiloh Centre at 80 Wish Hill Willingdon. Their main aim is to help prevent suicides and give aftercare support. To find out more about this Christian organisation there is a volunteer recruitment evening today (Wednesday), 7pm at the Shiloh Centre. COFFEE and hot cross buns will be served to residents at Willingdon Library in Coppice Avenue, 10am to 11.30am (Wednesday). This could also be your opportunity to complete a paper copy survey and ‘have your say’ about what services you would like from your local library – although you have up to May 21 in which to do this, or you could complete the survey online at eastsussex.gov.uk/haveyoursay ART TUITION: Teresa Currie is running a six-week art course in the newly-refurbished community room at Trinity Church starting today (Wednesday) 7pm- 9pm. The course will cover drawing skills, watercolour techniques, pen and ink drawing, pastel and charcoal, figure drawing, perspective drawing, and acrylic and mixed media. Refreshments will be provided. The cost is £10 per session or £50 for all six. More details on 501213.

THE Friendly Cuppa’ will meet in St Mary’s Church hall, Willingdon, 10.30am-noon tomorrow (Thursday) - do go along and make new friends.

TRINITY Diners meet at noon on Friday April 20 at Trinity Church Hall when the menu will be fruit juice, cottage pie, seasonal vegetables and lemon cheesecake and tea or coffee. To reserve a place call Jennie on 484189.

THE next meeting of Polegate & Willingdon Local History Society, 7pm to 9pm, on Friday, April 20, at St John’s Church Hall Polegate. The speaker is Chris McCooey and the talk is entitled ‘Rouges, rascals and rebels’.

CHARITY EVENT: On Saturday, April 21, there is a spectacular charity event noon-6pm at the British Queen at Willingdon Triangle in aid of Sussex Air Ambulance. There will be a BBQ, stalls, tombola and a classic car and bike show. The timetable of special events is as follows: 12.10pm Scottish piper Donald Brown; followed by rock and roll band The Hustlers at 1.30pm; 2.15pm martial art display - Titan Kick Boxing; 3.15pm music resumes with Rick Bonner; 4.15pm the Long Man Morris Men. As well as the BBQ the usual restaurant and bar food will be available noon-2.30pm and 6.30pm-8.30pm. A raffle will take place at 8.30pm and Stray Dogs will entertain from 9pm.

THE Binnie Sisters Ehibition is in the Stable opposite the Wheatsheaf noon-5pm on - weekends and bank holidays from April 7 to April 29. Christine Binnie is a potter while her sister Jennifer will display her paintings.

CELEBRATE St Georges Day at the Wheatsheaf on Saturday April 21 with the Long Man Morris Men dancing outside the pub from 7pm and inside from 8pm.

RICHARD Morgan, who lives in Willingdon Village, is hoping to mark his 70th year with a sponsored cycle ride around 12 cathedrals in South East England. Canon Martin Onions, vicar of Willingdon Church will be matching Richard mile for mile on an exercise bike in church. The distance is about 500 miles, and Richard is hoping to complete it in 21 days. The church is trying to raise £50,000 to complete the purchase of a house in the Willingdon Trees area, to place a parish worker there to serve the church in the community around Willingdon Trees. Anyone wishing to sponsor Richard, could either sponsor him for each cathedral visited, or donate for each mile covered or for each day spent cycling. If enough pledges are forthcoming, it is intended to start the cycle ride on Sunday May 27. A5 leaflets including pledge and sponsorship forms are available from church and other outlets should you want to sponsor Richard and Fr Martin. Alternatively ring the parish office on 01323 501763. Pledge forms in by April 22.
