GETTING ON or off a bus can be a concern for those blind or partially sighted. Eastbourne Blind Society advises that when hailing a bus it can help if a card is held up stating the bus number, or the word ‘bus’ so that the driver will know to stop. When you board the bus tell the driver where you wish to get off and ask to be told when the bus reaches that stop. It is advisable, as well, to ask a fellow passenger to assist you.
