Down Your Way: Sovereign Harbour - March 21

THE Sovereign Harbour Eastbourne Carnival Action Team (SHECAT) took over the Happy Dragon restaurant at Pevensey Bay for the evening on March 14 for a fundraising Chinese supper.

About 45 supporters enjoyed a superb meal, had a lot of fun, and raised £384 towards the construction of the carnival float. If you have skills that could be useful, and would like to become involved, please contact Alison Attwood on 01323-479429 or e-mail alison.attwood@shecat.info. For information, visit www.shecat.info,

MEMBERS of the Rotary Club of Sovereign Harbour were joined by PCSO Martin Hylands, EBC Community Enforcement Officer, Claire Banks, and harbour resident, Tony Smith, in a “Spring Clean” of the area of land between Pevensey Bay Road and Pacific Drive, known as “Site 7”.

Although it was not possible to clean the whole site, sufficient litter and rubbish was collected to fill the back of a SITA pick-up truck. Rotary Club President, Peter Thomas thanked EBC Cleansing Contracts Manager, Paul Marsden, for lending equipment, supplying bags, and arranging for the prompt removal of the rubbish”.

ON March 21, a special charity fund raising evening, “Ciao! Spring into Song S! S!” will be held for diners at the Sovereign Harbour Waterfront.

Simply Italian is hosting the event, which is free to diners, with live music and song by Sovereign Polyphony from about 7.15 pm.

The evening will comprise a light-hearted music miscellany.

Simply Italian will give a percentage of takings from all meals sold from the standard menu to www.pompe.org and www.theastbourneblindsociety.

Sovereign Polyphony will be there. Call 01323 479011 for reservations.

YOU can register for the Rotary Club of Sovereign Harbour’s second annual sponsored Harbour Walk, in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind, from 2pm to 5pm, on April 7 at Eastbourne Borough FC’s home fixture against Welling Utd, and on Wednesday April11 from 2pm to 6pm at the Pevensey Coastal Defenced annual public forum at the Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club.

Walkers will be accompanied by a number of guide dogs and their owners so, this year, registration will also be open to dogs which will, hopefully, also be sponsored.
