ON MARCH 21, a special charity fundraising evening, Ciao! Spring into Song S! S! will be held for diners at the Sovereign Harbour Waterfront. Simply Italian is hosting the event, which is free to diners, with live music and song by Sovereign Polyphony from 7.15pm.

The evening will comprise a light-hearted music miscellany of many styles and genres, suiting varied ages and tastes. Simply Italian will give a percentage of takings from all meals sold from the standard menu to www.pompe.org and www.theastbourneblindsociety.

No charge will be made for the entertainment, allowing all money donated to aid the worthy causes. Call 479011 for reservations.

SOVEREIGN Harbour Eastbourne Carnival Action Team (SHECAT) met to review progress, and plan the next steps in the building of its Carnival float. A need was identified for small amounts of paint in various colours - particularly shades of blue but other colours too. Please look in the garage or under the stairs and see if you have any old cans and also, any old brushes and plastic dust sheets.

THE QUEEN’S Diamond Jubilee Flotilla, to celebrate the historic Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, is on Monday, June 4 ,from Sovereign Harbour to the Beachy Head lighthouse, starting at 2pm.

Premier Marinas berthholders and visiting craft are invited to dress their boats and form an armada which can be watched from the seafront or the Western Lawns.

Commentary will be from the Western Lawns and there will be a prize of lunch for two at The Aviator Club at Airbourne for the best dressed boat to be presented at the Harbour by the Mayor of Eastbourne. Participants will also receive a Diamond Jubilee Commemorative rosette or small plaque.

SOVEREIGN Ward Councillors will hold a surgery in the annex of Simply Italian on the Sovereign Harbour Waterfront on Saturday March 17. 10.30am-12.30pm. A further surgery will be held in the Christ the King Church hall on Wednesday, March 21, 7.45pm to 9pm. No appointment is necessary.

PROSPECTIVE participants in the Rotary Club of Sovereign Harbour’s second annual sponsored Harbour Walk, in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind, will have an opportunity to register in person, from 2pm to 5pm, on April 7 at Eastbourne Borough FC’s home fixture against Welling Utd, and on Wednesday April11 from 2pm to 6pm at the Pevensey Coastal Defenced annual public forum at the Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club.

Walkers will be accompanied by a number of guide dogs and their owners so, this year, registration will also be open to dogs which will, hopefully, also be sponsored.

THE HARBOUR Community Association carpet bowls group meets every Thursday evening, in term time, from 6.45pm until 9.15pm at the Haven School in Atlantic Drive; full spring schedule on the SHRA website events calendar.

THE EASTBOURNE RNLI appeal to raise the final £700,000 will give the volunteers the safety and speed they need to continue saving lives at sea will run until the end of 2012.

There is a raffle, the top prize of which is for two people to spend a Sunday training session with the crew of the new lifeboat.
