PROSPECTIVE participants in the Rotary Club of Sovereign Harbour’s second annual sponsored Harbour Walk, in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind, can register in person, on Wednesday, April 11, 2pm-6pm at the Pevensey Coastal Defences annual public forum at the Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club.
Walkers can be accompanied by guide dogs and their owners so, this year, registration is also open to dogs - hopefully, also be sponsored.
Walkers, and their dogs, can also register online at www.harbourwalk.info, or by post, by downloading a registration form from the website.
ANNUAL dredging of the Outer Harbour is in progress and should be completed within a few days. During this work, the Eastbourne Lifeboat will remain in lock two.
THE WEST Harbour Bridge (next to the Harvester) will be closed for two weeks from April 16 for essential maintenance; there will be no pedestrian access during this period. Premier Marinas said that they will endeavour to complete the work as quickly as possible, and apologises for the inconvenience.
NEW PICTORIAL warning signage will shortly be installed on all three harbour bridges, together with new red warning lights. This is to increase awareness of impending bridge closures so as to improve pedestrian safety. Premier Marinas asks that pedestrians should comply with the warnings in order to keep the marina a safe and enjoyable environment.

CHESTNUT Tree House is inviting you to gather your girlfriends and let your star shine for a Night to Remember - a ten-mile walk along Eastbourne’s seafront, including the marina promenades, to raise money for Chestnut Tree House, the only children’s hospice in Sussex. THE Eastbourne RNLI appeal to raise the final £700,000 will give the volunteers the safety and speed they need to continue saving lives at sea runs until the end of 2012. There is a raffle, top prize is for two people to spend a Sunday training session with the crew of the new lifeboat.
