AT its meeting on December 13, the Sovereign Harbour Neighbourhood Panel (SHNP) welcomed its first youth member. Oscar Williams attended as an observer and, at the end of the meeting, accepted an invitation to join the panel. SHNP chairman, Jan Weeks said: “It’s very important neighbourhood panels should reflect the views of the whole community; I’m delighted Oscar has joined us, I’m sure he will be a valuable contributor.”

THE Haven Beacon PTFA Christmas cake sale on December 7 raised a very creditable £759 from sales of cakes and magnificent tombola and raffle. All money raised will be used to provide additional facilities for pupils of the school.

“CAROLS with the Crew” on December 9 was, as usual, very well supported by harbour residents and visitors to the Sovereign Harbour Waterfront. The Eastbourne lifeboat crew and the Salvation Army band were joined this year by the “Voices” choir.

Coffee and mince pies were generously donated to all who attended by Bruno Di Lieto of Di Lieto’s Coffee Lounge.

FOLLOWING the announcement the Eastbourne Pevensey Marina telephone exchange is to be upgraded to fibre, residents and business in Sovereign Harbour are encouraged to continue to register their interest for the fibre product with their service provider, who should let them know when it becomes available.

Registering interest also enables BT to identify demand and investigate possible solutions for cabinets not included in the upgrade.

The County Council has initiated a campaign to bring the service to East Sussex and launched a website, www.goesussex.co.uk on which residents are encouraged to register an interest.

The Haven Church meets every Sunday morning at 10am in the hall of the Haven School on Atlantic Drive; all welcome.
